Time management

I love this clever new video by Royal Caribbean. It really helps put things in perspective for those people who have a hard time taking days off from work.

It illustrates a stat I have seen before but one that never fails to astound me: the vacation days that go unused each year by working Americans add up to more than one million years. For one year!! I have a hard time wrapping my brain around that!

I, for one, have never felt guilty about using vacation days, even at the job I have now, which offers a pretty generous vacation package compared to the companies employing most of the people I know. I completely agree with the notion burnout is good for no one. A recent look at my time-off balances made me feel assured I will not be contributing to that one million year stat for 2011. Not that I was worried. My problem is using up my days too early in the year, leaving none for the holidays!

  1. Very interesting! I made my husband watch this as well. Next week he will be maxed out on earning vacation time for the year….. shows how little time we get off. Haha 🙂 A trip sounds beautiful!

  2. Yes, I think you are overdue for some time off!! Even if it’s a “staycation!”
