The good news is I got out of work early yesterday. The bad news is, we got out early because a snow storm was picking up and we had this to deal with on the commute home:
Luckily, the early dismissal meant I was able to get on an earlier train since I found out my normal (later) train was significantly delayed. The train was also a much better option than driving as it took poor Brian, who had meetings downtown – all of which were cancelled, more than three hours to get home from downtown. He left at about 1:45 and made it to Oak Lawn just in time to pick me up from the train at at about 5:15!
Once home, I put on my flannel lounge pants, poured a glass of wine, and settled in for the night to watch the snow fall. The only thing missing was a roaring fire, which would have been hard to pull off without a fire place π And, no. I don’t have the fire simulating DVD!
The forecast for 8 inches was right on. The scene this morning was much nicer than the scene from the commute last night.
While Brian did this:
I put on my snow pants and boats and took the dogs out on an adventure in the snow. We went down to the school a few blocks away to jump through the drifts and run in the big snow-covered yard. The snow was just a tad deeper than the dogs’ legs are long, so they got quite a workout jumping with each step, but they loved it! They are so funny to watch in the snow. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my phone with me, so I didn’t get any pictures of the dogs. But, fortunately, there are no pictures of me after the faceplant I did into a snow drift when the dogs pulled me faster than I could lift my legs to make it through a drift. I hope the residents in the houses surrounding the school yard appreciate my entertainment this morning. Since we have well-established my humor at people falling, I have no shame in saying I would have been laughing my butt off at me if I were them.
Snow days can be fun. And entertaining. Have a great weekend everyone!
Glad you both made it home safely! Sounds like you and the dogs had a great time. Hahaha. I like how you took a pick of Brian doin work while you went off to go play. Hope you enjoyed your wine π If I am ever in the area I will have to stop by so we can have a glass together π
Haha…I’m such a loving wife, right! I would LOVE to have a glass of wine with you if you ever make it this way! π
