We spent a long weekend at our friends’ farm in Wisconsin (a.k.a. The Funny Farm). It was our first trip there this year and we’re looking forward to spending a lot more time there this summer.
We got very lucky with an unseasonably warm weekend with clear skies. Two of the best things at the farm is the sunrise, followed by the night time sky that is one big star-filled blanket. We were able to enjoy both this weekend.
Our time at the farm with Steve and Kristin and family is always filled with lots of laughs, relaxation and good times. Within an hour of being there, you’d understand why The Funny Farm is such an appropriate name for their farm. Hilarity always ensues when we get together and this weekend was no exception. I always get in a good ab workout when we’re all together from using all my “laughing muscles.” It’s the best kind of workout.
I also got in a good run Saturday morning. I circled around the farm property which includes two crop fields and a wooded area. It’s always a good run when I can wear my trail shoes 🙂 I repeated the circle around the farm six times for a total of five miles. With all of the rolling hills, which I’m not used to climbing, I got in quite the workout. I thought I would be more sore. I was a little stiff yesterday morning, but feel great today. What a great way to kick off my marathon training season (more on that later).
It looks like the unseasonably warm weather will continue through most of the week here in Chicago, wish makes me smile. (yay, Spring!) I probably won’t make it out for a sunrise run this week ( a morning run around my neighborhood doesn’ have the same appeal as a run around farm country) but I am hoping to get in a few miles after work a couple of times this week.
Hope you all had a great weekend, as well!
